Society members invited to submit panel-session proposals for EAHN conference

An important aspect of SAHGB’s long-term strategy for building relationships with other bodies involved with architectural history, and the Society’s ambition to provide greater opportunities to encourage members to exchange knowledge with peers and related bodies and organisation, is the co-organisation of conference panel-sessions at international conferences.

Since 2019, the Society has had a formal agreement with the European Architectural History Network regarding the co-organisation of a SAHGB panel-session at EAHN bi-annual conferences. We would like to invite our members to submit proposals for the EAHN Call for Sessions for the next EAHN bi-annual conference held in Madrid, Spain from 15 June to 19 June 2022.

Panel-session proposals should inform attendees of the general state of research in architectural history and related disciplines and may cover every time period and all aspects of the built environment, including landscape and urban history.

The proposed conference panel-session should actively support the international reputation and visibility of SAHGB. Hence, papers should be of a high academic standard, capable of being developed collectively into a ‘thematic issue’ published as part of the of SAHGB’s journal, Architectural History.

We invite all interested members to submit a panel-session proposal (no paper proposals yet) for an internal SAHGB pre-selection by 10 December 2020. The International Engagement sub-committee will announce their selection by 22 December in order to leave the unsuccessful chairs the opportunity to submit their proposals directly to EAHN by 30 December 2020.

SAHGB will be refunding the chair’s conference fee, transport and accommodation up to a maximum of  700 GBP.

Submissions should comply with the EAHN conference guidelines and should be sent to annefrancoise.morel@sahbg.org.uk.
