ADH 2020: Shortlist Interview - Anne-Françoise Morel
In the lead up to the Annual Lecture and Awards Ceremony, our President, Neil Jackson, interviews the authors shortlisted for the Alice Davis Hitchcock Medallion. In this interview, Neil is joined by Dr Anne-Françoise MoreL to discuss Glorious Temples or Babylonic Whores.
Anne-Françoise Morel reflects : ‘The origins of this book were inadvertently laid during a research seminar in which I participated as a student. While most of my Architectural History courses focused on Italy, France and the Low Countries, England and the British Isles had remained out of scope. When the land of Albion appeared on my radar, my curiosity grew into a fascination; and the research paper into a PhD, and consequently this book. It is therefore a real honour for me, that this work is nominated for one of the most prestigious awards in the field, and appears amongst books, and in the company of authors who were substantial for my learning and research. Drawing upon their important intellectual legacy in Architectural History, I had the opportunity to further explore the topic of Stuart church building in its fascinating and extremely rich cultural and intellectual context.’
